Public Defender’s Let’s End Truancy Program

As part of the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Let’s End Truancy Program, it was identified that Wilson Elementary School could benefit from a Parent Engagement Workshop. This group was created by social work interns from Cal State University San Bernardino; Cal State University Los Angeles; and Loma Linda University, which has continued to grow and is currently being facilitated by Social Services Practitioner, Erika Fortuna.

The Parent Engagement Program is a 10-month curriculum that is intended to provide preventative approaches that promote parent involvement, highlight the importance of school attendance, and educate parents of crucial issues that may impact their child’s ability to succeed socially and academically.
