On Saturday, June 15, 2024, our department participated in the 2nd Annual Donuts with Dad event hosted by the San Bernardino County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) Fatherhood Committee in Loma Linda, celebrating Fatherhood Awareness Month. This event underscores the vital role fathers play in their children’s lives by offering a variety of essential resources and services designed to strengthen these bonds.
Over 480 attendees registered for the event, which provided legal assistance, workshops, opportunities for license release, and debt reduction assistance. Caseworkers were available to answer questions and help fathers reconnect with needed programs. Additionally, the event offered a fun-filled experience with various free activities for children, including games, prizes, fresh donuts, and coffee for dads!
Our Second Chance Unit assisted those convicted in San Bernardino County in starting the record-clearing expungement process. This process benefits fathers by enabling them to secure job placement and housing. The opportunity for record expungement has proven particularly significant for those seeking to remove barriers and fully participate in their children’s lives. Our department is committed to serving the well-being of our county and ensuring equitable access to justice.
