Dear Phyllis:

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the California Public Defenders Association (CPDA), I wish to extend my congratulations for and appreciation of your office’s work in creating and implementing the “iPad Project” at your office. In this time where shrinking budgets can mean a diminution in services, your office has found an innovative solution that saves money and helps clients. That is why this project has been selected to receive CPDA’s Defender Program of the Year Award for 2012.

You will be receiving your award at the state convention awards luncheon, which will be held on April 20 in Oxnard. The program will include the presentation of some other awards. Because of the length of the program we are asking award recipients to limit their acceptance comments to no more than 6 minutes. While we hate to impose such limits, doing so will ensure that all recipients get equal time to make meaningful comments to the luncheon participants.

On behalf of CPDA, I look forward to seeing you at the state convention and joining with your public defender colleagues in this celebration.
