Law Day celebrates the role of law in our society and cultivates a deeper understanding of the legal profession.

The first Law Day was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1961, Congress designated May 1 as the official date for celebrating Law Day by issuing a joint resolution. Since that time, each year the President issues a Law Day proclamation in celebration of Nations’ commitment to the rule of law.

The Law Offices of the Public Defender of San Bernardino County sponsor this event annually by giving presentations to schools, non-profit organizations, and other community groups located within the County. The subject matter of the presentation may focus on the year’s designated Law Day theme, or developed to meet the needs, interests, or age group of the audience.

Public Defender attorneys, investigators and social workers are available year-round to present informative and entertaining lectures and to educate the community about the topics related to the law.
