Last month San Bernardino County Public Defender Social Service Practitioners (SSPs) lent support to San Bernardino Fatherhood for two events.

Our SSP team co-sponsored the organization’s 24/7 Dad Key Behaviors Workshop, held at the San Bernardino YMCA on Saturday, June 12, 2021, with item donations. Workshop participants learned about the 12 key behaviors associated with 24/7 fatherhood in a safe, comfortable, friendly environment. Read more about the workshop on San Bernardino Fatherhood’s blog.

On Saturday, June 26, SSPs donated their time to the Dads With Kids Story Time, part of San Bernardino Fatherhood’s Real Dads Read campaign, at the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. SSPs contributed food, water, books and blankets for the reading circles, PD item giveaways, and cologne and lotion gift bags for dads (see photos above). They also raffled a candy basket and various toys and backpacks.

SSPs also had the opportunity to meet with San Bernardino City Councilmember Damon Alexander (7th Ward, pictured at center of photo below, right) and share a little bit about the Public Defender’s Office and the SSP program.
